Introduction to Touch Screen Monitor
Touch screen technologies are revolutionizing information dispensing and transaction processing in a big way. Now even unskilled users can transact and access information depending on their needs.
CRT Touch Screen Display
The key advantage of CRT technology is the low initial purchase price. A CRT is the right choice for ultra-high-resolution applications such as medical imaging. In addition, because the viewing angle of a CRT is greater than that of a flat panel display, a CRT is preferable for applications where multiple viewers will be looking at the display from different angles. A CRT is also ideal for displaying full-motion video

LCD Touch Screen Display:
The liquid crystal display (LCD) offers several advantages. With its flat screen and Aluminum Chassis LCD Displays an LCD takes up much less space than a cathode ray tube (CRT) display. A LCD has approximately the same viewable area as a CRT. LCD's are available in brightness levels that far exceed those of typical CRTs, which makes them the right choice for high-ambient-light environments. An LCD also delivers a flicker-free image with as little as two-thirds of the power consumed by a CRT. An LCD provides a lower lifetime cost than a CRT because the average expected life of an LCD back light is 25,000 to 30,000 hours.
Introduction to Kiosks
Touch Screen computer interface is possibly the fastest growing alternative for the mouse and the keyboard. Touch based kiosks offer many advantages over traditional computer hardware - they are user-friendly, easy to install, require low or nil computing skills to operate, and resistant to water, dirt & hazardous environments.
Information Kiosk Touch Screen Desktop
Information kiosks are often used in public locations such as railway / airline / bus terminals, tourist areas, museums, and shopping centers. In information kiosk a touch based multimedia application will be developed with rich text, proper graphics animations, photograph, videos, hi – quality voice over and back ground music with colorful and attractive screen layouts. The application to start with can have organizational related information in a detailed manner. The content would be arranged in a clearly defined menus for the user to operate easily. The same can be done in multi language. Now here our kiosks has major benefit if they are online so by entering a policy number through a virtual number pad on the screen the user can see the policy status. If he wants to get a print out he can also do that. When the kiosk is not in use for longer time product promos / ads may continuously run in the form of screen savers to attract more customers.
Transaction kiosks
Access Technologies Kiosk applications are custom designed and developed according to the type of transactions to be done on the kiosk. We custom build applications integrating the kiosk with your organizational LAN or web enable the application to interact with your web server / web site. Commonly used application areas include:
Touch screen Devices
Thermal Printers jam far less frequently than regular printers, which is an important kiosk maintenance issue. They also do not use ink, so you will not have to replace ink cartridges, which further reduces kiosk maintenance. Thermal printers also have less moving parts, which makes them less prone to breaking. Furthermore, thermal printers present a printout to a user only after the print job is completed
Proximity Sensor detect the presence of kiosk users, and can thus serve two important purposes when integrated into a kiosk .First, they can detect an approaching kiosk user and launch an audio / video greeting, making a kiosk even more interactive. Even more importantly, proximity sensors can detect when a kiosk user walks away from a kiosk, which is useful for automatically logging users out of secure applications. When a user walks away, a proximity sensor triggers commands to close a kiosk's browser. This in turn clears the cache, removes cookies, and sends the kiosk back to its attract mode. With a configurable range of 1.5 to 5 feet, proximity sensors are particularly useful for banking, e-commerce and HR applications, where privacy concerns are paramount.
Card Readers are useful for a variety of applications, as they can capture data from credit cards, debit cards, ID cards and driver’s licenses. When integrated into Access kiosks, card readers can be used to log users into secure applications (banking, HR), perform transactions (electronic ticketing, e-commerce) and more. Access can either integrate our kiosks with existing card-enabled applications, or develop such applications from the ground up, based on our customers’ needs.
Overhead Monitor is an ideal solution for increasing your kiosk project’s visual impact. The 19” monitor is housed in a stylish metal chassis that attaches to the base of our Barbados & Calicos kiosk models. The overhead monitor and touch screen both connect to the same kiosk computer, but they can display separate content.
Infrared Ports provide a wireless link for transferring information from kiosks to handheld devices such as PDA's. For example, a tourism kiosk with an infrared port can allow tourists to instantly download information about local attractions & restaurants to their PDA.
Telephone Handset
If your kiosk project has a need for telephony, we can add a rugged telephone handset (with armored cable) to our kiosks. A kiosk equipped with a phone handset can be useful for a number of applications.
For example, this is an easy way to connect kiosk users with help desk support, using existing phone lines and auto dial functionality. In addition, a phone handset can be used in conjunction with our Quick Path building directory software, for one-touch dialing of building tenants. Phone handsets can also be used for making phone calls via the Internet (VIP).
Infrared Port
Infrared ports provide a wireless link for transferring information from kiosks to handheld devices such as PDA's. For example, a tourism kiosk with an infrared port can allow tourists to instantly download information about local attractions & restaurants to their PDA.
Card Reader
Magnetic card readers are useful for a variety of applications, as they can capture data from credit cards, debit cards, ID cards and driver’s licenses. When integrated into Access Logic’s kiosks, card readers can be used to log users into secure applications (banking, HR), perform transactions (electronic ticketing, e-commerce) and more. Access Logic can either integrate our kiosks with existing card-enabled applications, or develop such applications from the ground up, based on our customers’ needs.
Wi-Fi
Are you ready to join the Wi-Fi revolution and generate additional revenue at the same time? Use your Access Logic kiosk to create your own "Hot Spot". If you're already running high-speed Internet lines to your kiosks, this will allow you to sell your extra bandwidth to anyone with a Wi-Fi-enabled laptop PC (or PDA) in the vicinity of your kiosk.
The process is very easy. Through its partnership with Air path Wireless, Access Logic will equip your kiosk(s) with Wi-Fi software and an inexpensive Wi-Fi transmitter, which has a range of 200-300 feet under normal conditions. Laptop users with internal/external Wi-Fi cards who wish to surf the web are presented with a login/payment page. Users can then select between a variety of payment plans and pay with their credit card. Access Logic authenticates the user's credit card and processes the payment, eliminating the need for you to have a merchant's account. Once a month, Access Logic totals your Wi-Fi revenue and sends you a check minus a transaction fee.
This service is very flexible, allowing you to determine how much you would like to charge for Internet access. Plus, the low maintenance and overhead costs that are involved translate to high profit margins. At the same time, you can still utilize your kiosk for its primary function without compromising its functionality or speed.
